Indian Overseas Congress Australia Engages in Strategic Dialogue with Sam Pitroda on Diaspora Outreach and Youth Participation

Sydney, Australia | March 24, 2026 – The Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) Australia convened a significant virtual meeting on Saturday, March 21, 2026, with Sam Pitroda, Chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress, to deliberate on key political developments, diaspora engagement, and future strategies for strengthening the organisation’s outreach.

The meeting was led by Gurjinder Singh Gavy, President of the Indian Overseas Youth Congress (IOYC) Australia, in coordination with the President of IOC, Manoj Sheoran, and saw active participation from members of the Indian diaspora across various Australian cities.

During the session, Pitroda shared his perspectives on the evolving political landscape in India, with particular reference to the upcoming Kerala elections and the broader national vision shaping the country’s socio-political discourse. He highlighted the importance of sustained youth engagement, global Indian participation, and strengthening democratic values through inclusive political processes.

A key highlight of the meeting was the discussion around the proposed visit of Rahul Gandhi to Australia, which participants described as a potential landmark moment for the Indian diaspora community. The leadership team explored engagement strategies and large-scale community outreach initiatives aimed at ensuring meaningful participation during the anticipated visit.

The meeting also focused on several organisational priorities, including strengthening the structure and outreach of IOC Australia, increasing youth participation through IOYC Australia, expanding grassroots engagement within the Indian community, and building stronger connections between India and the global diaspora.

Speaking after the interaction, Gurjinder Singh Gavy said, “It was an honour to interact with Sam Pitroda. His vision and guidance are truly inspiring for all of us working towards empowering youth and strengthening the voice of the Indian diaspora in Australia. We remain committed to taking IOC Australia to new heights under his and Dr. Arathi Krishna’s leadership.”

The discussion concluded with a shared commitment among participants to work collaboratively towards fostering a stronger, more connected, and progressive global Indian community.
